AURA

This series is about recognizing yourself in the soul. I appeal to virgins and goddesses of different cultures as a bridge to represent spirituality through femininity.

Important things are lived, felt and more than anything are understood from the torn soul, broken heart and the journey to the darkness that ultimately leads to light, transparent, blue, pure and deep: the Aura.

Do we not question our whole life about the existence of a superior power, a true god, a force or energy that sustains us and guides us in our paths? There are moments in life in which we give power to other beings believing that they will be unconditional and serve us as a crutch eternally. What happens when we feel abandoned, alone, when death visits us too often and looking at ourselves in the mirror can become a torture? I remember as a child I could spend hours in front of the mirror, observing every part of my face until I would lose objectivity and see myself distorted. It was a kind of unfolding, in which somehow I managed to separate my physical being from my spiritual one, it was like looking at me from the outside.

In a moment of my life, years later, I understood that finding peace in my life could only come from a communion with myself. At that moment I began a deep journey. I met the shadows of my shadows, I remembered moments trapped, silenced that made my body sick, I got lost, I ran away. I traveled through Hades until I recognized myself in Persephone. Darkness taught me that without it there is no clarity. Behind her I managed to perceive the light, the aura. Sometimes I forget how to see it, I forget that the transparent violet blue is on the other side, when I stop frowning, I breathe deeply, when I perceive the beating of my heart, the flow of my blood. When the outside noise no longer weighs. Through portraits of these virgins and goddesses I find a communion with myself.

AURA
