Lorena Cordero was born in 1971, in Quito, Ecuador. She is a photographer and digital artist. She attended Parsons School in New York and later transferred to Parsons Paris. She returned to her country of origin before concluding her college studies, which largely makes her a self-educated professional. The limited materials and resources she faced when she returned home opened a huge door for her. She learned to take advantage of what she had available and experimented. Practice turned out to be Lorena’s best school. She kept on experimenting and created new images from her initial ones. She discovered the world of manipulation and tried new techniques with no apparent direction – chaos, pain, restlessness, silence. It was through persons that she fell in love with the camera once again. She learned to look beyond seeing and to listen beyond hearing. Taking pictures, thus, became something infinite because she reflects herself through portraits. Photography is healing.

Together with her colleague and husband Simón Brauer they created Neurona Digital, a small company devoted to different aspects of photography. She is currently living in Quito, Ecuador.

During her career as a photographer, Lorena has performed several individual and collective exhibits.

Since 2007 she has obtained several honorable mentions from IPA (International Photography Awards) and the Silver Award from the Canon Creative Asia Awards 2010.

Lorena Cordero, nace en 1971 en Quito Ecuador, es fotógrafa y artista digital. Asiste a Parsons Nueva York y luego se transfiere a Parsons Paris. Regresa a su país de origen antes de finalizar sus estudios universitarios lo cual la convierte en gran parte auto-didacta. La limitación de materiales y recursos con los que se encuentra a su regreso le abren una puerta enorme. Aprende a sacar provecho de lo que tiene a su alcance y experimenta.  La práctica se convierte en su mejor escuela. Experimenta más y de sus imágenes iniciales crea nuevas.  Descubre el mundo de la manipulación y prueba nuevas técnicas sin rumbo aparente. Caos, dolor, inconformidad, silencio. Se re enamora de la cámara a través de las personas. Aprende a mirar más allá de ver y a escuchar más allá de oir y entonces el hacer fotos se transforma en algo infinito porque a través del retrato ella se refleja, la fotografía es sanación.

 Sus propuestas  artísticas conllevan una búsqueda en la emocionalidad humana.

En conjunto con su colega y esposo Simón Brauer crean Neurona Digital, una pequeña empresa dedicada a diferentes aspectos de la fotografía. Actualmente vive en Quito, Ecuador.

En su trayectoria como fotógrafa cuenta con varias exposiciones individuales y colectivas.

Desde 2007 ha obtenido varias menciones de honor en el IPA (International Photography Awards) y el Silver award en the Canon Creative Asia Awards 2010.
